If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and get the full version of Norton Speed Disk. The whimpy free version won't do it and neither will the Diskeeper Lite or the one built into Windows OS. I do a lot of video work on the computer and I usually use Norton. However, I had my system rebuilt a couple of years ago and I forgot to give them my Norton Speed Disk CD to load after the rebuild. Anyway, was editing, started getting bogged down, knew I needed to defrag, and decided to let Diskeeper do its thing while I grabbed lunch. By the time I grabbed my keys and my wallet, the damned thing said it was finished.
Hah! Sure, like my daughter says she's "finished" cleaning her room.
Anyway, this was a 150 gig Raid that was over 80% full and Diskeeper shot its wad in, like, two minutes. So I loaded Norton on and it continued to chew on the drives for another two hours; drives that Diskeeper said were defragged and ready to use.

back on my old computer.... defragging took
a third of a day to complete... and no, i ain't
kiddin, folks....
i'm certainly not going to bag on this pc since
it only took a short time to defrag.... i'm just
happy to say that i DO defrag... not that it
reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally means much in the grand
ol scheme of things....
